Architectural | Senior Project Architect – LEARN Sector (Auburn/San Jose)


Description

An immediate full-time position is available for a Senior Project Architect. Candidates must be committed to design excellence, interested in the craft of architecture and building, and capable of producing a strong set of construction documents in Revit and/or AutoCAD. The ideal candidate should demonstrate leadership abilities as this position is intended as to progress into a Studio Director or Associate Principal role with market-sector leadership responsibilities for California public education projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create and Manage design and construction documents in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Assist in the design documentation process working collaboratively with the project team across offices.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and experience in coordinating with architectural team, clients, consultants, and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, with 10 or more years of relevant architectural work experience.
  • Experience with and understanding of the Division of the State Architect's (DSA) office, their protocols and code standards.
  • Prior experience in California K-12 education projects.
  • Design skills that will engage with our IMAGINE | DESIGN | CREATE studio approach.
  • Proficiency in Revit with minimum 5 years hands-on experience
  • Proficiency in Navisworks a plus.
  • Experience in contract administration.
  • Working knowledge of building codes and regulations.

Senior Structural Engineer - Department Leader (Tahoe City)


Description

An immediate full-time position is open for a Senior Structural Engineer to lead our structural group in our Tahoe City office (preferred), or Reno office. Candidates must be experienced in residential, commercial, and resort/hospitality structural engineering and design.

JK Architecture Engineering is an integrated architecture and engineering firm with offices in Tahoe City, Reno, Auburn, and San Jose. We have a broad resume of public and private design and engineering with expertise in the LIVE | LEARN | WORK | PLAY market sectors. The team focuses on unique projects that require technical sophistication along with the practical application of structural knowledge to non-traditional engineering challenges. Much of our workload is centered around support for the year–round mountain resort industry, which features a variety of unique building and non-building structures subject to extreme snow, wind, and seismic loads.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in each of the four primary construction materials as well as the demonstrated experience in the use of structural theory in non-standard design applications. Immediate need is for performing design and contributing on existing projects. The candidate should have experience in management of staff, business development, and client financial management. You will have extensive client interaction, contractor interaction, and team management exposure. This is not a job in a cubical. You are expected to be a public face of JKAE in the community. As a diverse company, JKAE offers growth opportunities including the ability to lead our structural group into other market segments. This is a leadership position that can track into a future Principal position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide structural engineering expertise on varying levels of projects, and project types from residential to commercial. Hands-on effort is required.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously, beginning with conceptual predesign and stewarding the project through construction.
  • Handle Business Development, including outreach to clients, being the face of JKAE in the community, prepare proposals, prepare billing, and control scheduling of staff and clients.
  • Work with local, state, and quasi-federal agency(s) to ensure excellent project management and ensure project timelines are met.
  • Manage structural engineering team members including scheduling, mentorship, and providing QA/QC reviews of staff’s work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering required, Master’s degree in structural engineering a plus
  • 15+ years structural design experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure in California and/or Nevada required, Structural Engineering (SE) licensure a plus
  • Strong background in wood-framed construction
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, agencies and contractors as required.

Full-time BIM Designer positions are available for project collaboration in all of our offices. Project Engineer – Civil (Reno)

Description

An immediate full-time position is open for a Project Engineer with a primary focus on civil engineering. This position currently resides in our Reno office, but could be based in our Tahoe City office for the right individual. Candidates must be experienced in all aspects of Land Development from entitlements to through construction. Our practice is very complicated in this highly regulated delicate environment that we work in. Environmental concerns affect all projects in this Alpine and Desert setting. The work is a varied and interesting mix of commercial sites, ski area projects, small and large subdivisions, public recreation facilities, and public infrastructure projects. The technical skills needed include conceptual site designs, utility and roadway layouts, site grading, sanitary sewer and storm drain design, water supply and system analysis, hydrology and hydraulics analysis, agency processing and permitting, and environmental document preparation. The best candidate would be very nimble and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Provides civil engineering services for varying levels of projects.
  • Handles multiple projects simultaneously with minimal oversight.
  • Coordination with clients, governing agencies, subconsultants, and contractors.
  • Conduct site and agency visits to ensure project timelines are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required
  • Minimum of 4 to 8 years civil engineering experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure in either California or Nevada required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
  • Civil 3D skills required
  • SWPPP Preparation a plus
  • QSD/QSP Certification a plus
